Wizard Names

Wizard names from the scholarly to the sinister — arcane first names and the earned titles of a career in magic.

Optional: type a word that matters to you — half the batch will be built around it.

How to use this page

Generate two or three batches before judging — the first is rarely the best. Read the survivors aloud once; anything a tablemate cannot repeat back is out. For a bloodline or a warband, lock the custom word field to the same root syllable and generate per character: shared sounds read as shared blood, and the batch becomes a family tree.

Scholar first, sorcerer second

Wizards are academics with fire: “Aldric Veyne”, “Morwenna”, “Elzarin”. The pool favors learned latinate and old-english textures — names that sound like they sign treatises. Sinister characters get the sibilant lane: “Sareth”, “Malzeth”.

Titles earned, not chosen

“the Gray”, “of the Ninth Circle”, “Archivist of Ash” — wizard titles read as CVs. Type the school of magic into the custom field (“fire”, “void”, “time”) and generate titles that imply a specialty and a scandal.

Frequently asked questions

Can a wizard name be humble?

The comic lane works — “Fendrel the Adequate” is a legend at every table. Generate straight, add the modesty yourself.
